I don't know why I'm doing a painting of a dumpster, but oh well it done.

Night Raccoon
Acrylic 18 x 24

After many, many attempts of trying to paint this raccoon,
I think I've captured how it is supposed to look. Somehow,
it has been a long struggle for me.

This is a paiting of a raccoon I saw late at night taking out the trash.
You see wildlife like this once in a while and it always saddens me.
Their habitat is getting smaller and smaller, and this is the result of
them trying to survive, digging thru our trash.

Done!
This painting is based on a picture I took on the freeway somewhere in Southern California.
Just loved the dog sticking his head out enjoying the drive going who knows where with his family.
He just had this expression on him that is hard to explain but hoped to capture in the painting.

First layer being painted on the swan.
Even though the swan is supposed to be black, I hope to show some colors
on the feathers.

Finally all the background rocks are filled in.
Normally, I would paint the swan first than the background. But I wanted to
make sure the color and the rocks fitted in with the over all design of the painting.

Not quite happy with the color or how some of the rocks are filled in yet.
Another layer should fix all of that hopefully. Probably the left top of the
painting will be filled in with darker shadow.

Rocks being painted..... Hopefully I can get going on the swan pretty soon.

Some background added.

This is from a black swan I saw at Flamingo Hotel in Las Vegas. They keep all spieces
of birds (not just flamingos) running around wildly by their pool area. At one point they
also kept penguins but they were moved to a zoo. Maybe the climate of hot desert in
Nevada was too hot for them. Anyways it's something I always go to when I am in Vegas.
